

We initially saw no serial number on the guitar, until we were photographing it, at which point we noticed the 036 stamped into the top of the headstock, (see pic # 7). Limited edition Japanese production runs are typically one hundred or three hundred instruments. This stunning guitar ostensibly comes from a late eighties/early nineties, limited edition tribute series by Fernandes, produced for domestic Japanese sale only.


Between May of 1794 and January 1795, a hitherto unknown Japanese artist, signing himself Tôshûsai Sharaku, laboriously created a total of 145 prints in the Ukiyo-e style, (“images of the floating world”), which have subsequently achieved such worldwide acclaim that Sharaku is often called the Rembrandt of Ukiyo-e.
